Prof. Tamara SmallProf. Tamara Small commented in a CBC News story about unregistered groups targeting Ontario voters with online ads.

The story arose out of findings by ProPublica, a non-profit U.S.-based investigative journalism organization whose Facebook ad collector gathers ads from Facebook feeds of people who downloaded its browser extension.

A professor in the Department of Political Science, Small discussed what constitutes a political ad and talked about laws around issues-based advertising that isn’t linked to a party platform.

Small studies social media, political campaigns and the regulatory framework for the Internet in Canadian elections.
