Prof. Scott Weese, Pathobiology, was interviewed by the Canadian Press for a story that ran across Canada Oct. 5, including in the Toronto Star and CTV News. Weese discussed the dangers of owning or being near exotic pets, such as reptiles or large cats. He said researchers have limited understanding of diseases that could be transmitted from exotic animals to people. Weese studies zoonotic diseases (diseases that jump from animals to humans), bacterial infections in animals and people, and infection control in animals.
