The Yukon Gold potato, created by University of Guelph plant agriculture professor Gary Johnston, was recognized in a Canadian Press story marking the 50th anniversary of the potato. The story ran May 5 on CTVNews.caTorontoSun.com and in Metro News. Johnston died in 2000. Research technician Vanessa Currie, who worked with Johnston in the 1990s, was interviewed for the story.  The article notes the potato is “praised for its versatility and flavour.”
