The University of Guelph is completing Phase 1 of its strategic renewal project this month and plans to launch the second phase of the process in January.
The strategic renewal project is intended to help shape the University’s future over the next five to 10 years. It has been 20 years since U of G updated its strategic vision.
While launching the project during the annual community breakfast in September, president Franco Vaccarino said “this is a wonderful opportunity to review where we see ourselves now, what we think the University of Guelph stands for and how to chart our path into the future.”
The process is intended to engage people from on and off campus.
Phase 1 included formal and informal discussions and face-to-face meetings with more than 1,000 students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders. The University Senate and Board of Governors have also been consulted.
For Phase 2, the strategic renewal management team and advisory committee will review that information and will begin discussions on common themes in February.
Information is also being shared through a dedicated website and social media campaign. Nearly 6,000 people have viewed the @UofGRenewal Twitter profile and many commented on the process using #ChartOurPath. Written suggestions have also been received through strategicrenewal@uoguelph.ca.
