Six University of Guelph Gryphons led by two U of G coaches will be among the top Ontario university and college men’s baseball athletes appearing at the Rogers Centre in Toronto May 11.

Student-athletes from Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) will take part in the inaugural OUA-OCAA baseball all-star game.

This will be the first time that the OCAA will be included in this longtime OUA event. Men’s baseball was added to OCAA varsity competition for the 2013-14 season, with the St. Clair College Saints winning the first-ever association championship.

Gryphons playing for the OUA team will be catcher Justin Interisano, infielders Sean Molony, Wes Romak and Matt Forer, outfielder Peter Ricciardi and pitcher Brendan Sorichetti. Guelph coach Matt Griffin, OUA coach of the year, will manage the OUA team, and his assistant Marc Walton will be the bullpen coach.

The all-star game will take place after the Toronto Blue Jays game against the Los Angeles Angels beginning at 1 p.m.
