Georgia Apolonatos, P.Eng., has been hired as U of G’s new director of health, safety and wellness, effective June 3. She holds a master’s degree in applied science in chemical engineering and a diploma in occupational health and safety, and brings practical experience in industry along with a background in environmental health and safety.

Martha Harley, U of G’s associate vice-president (human resources), says, “Georgia’s experience includes providing strategic leadership and direction to multiple manufacturing facilities, laboratories and distribution centers across Canada. She has strong leadership, team-building and communication skills, and demonstrated success in establishing and fostering relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.”
