University of Guelph track and field runner Rachel Aubry has been named one of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Women of Influence for 2013. The award, now in its 10th year, honours female student-athletes who have excelled in their chosen sports and fields of study.

She will be honoured May 7 along with the other 2013 Women of Influence at a special event in Gravenhurst.

Aubry, a fifth-year track and field runner, helped the Gryphon women to an OUA Championship title this season and a team bronze medal at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Championships. She earned an individual OUA gold medal in the 4x800m relay and a silver medal in the 1000m race. At the CIS championships, she earned a pair of bronze medals in the 600m and 4x800m relay.

A human kinetics major hailing from Ottawa, Aubry’s contribution to Gryphon sports was also recognized last spring with the U of G President’s Trophy for a female athlete demonstrating excellence in academics and athletics.
