Jacey Murphy is Canadian university rugby’s top female player for the second straight year. She received the honour Wednesday night at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) All-Canadian Banquet.
The fifth-year agriculture student is the fourth multiple winner of the MVP award since the sport made its CIS debut in 1998.
Murphy led the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) with 12 tries in the five-game regular season and placed third in the league with 60 points.
She has guided the Gryphons to four straight OUA titles and four CIS bronze medals. In her university debut in 2007, she was named Rookie of the Year and a conference all-star.
The 2011 CIS championship gets underway today at Trent University and culminate Sunday with the gold-medal game at 2 p.m.
