Gary Ablett, the former director of U of G’s Ridgetown Campus and a U of G graduate, died April 4 at the age of 58. He was a soybean researcher and professor who had taught at Ridgetown since 1979. He also served as acting chair of the Department of Plant Agriculture on the Guelph campus from 2004 to 2006. He is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, Jeffrey and Gregory; father, Richard; brother, Steve; and extended family throughout Canada.
