Friday, October 12, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

U of G’s Centre for Families, Work and Well-being is hosting a lunch and learn on The Power of Inclusive Research.

Presenter Julianne Acker-Verney will share key findings from her work and highlight research methods that share power with, and give a voice to, diverse women with disabilities.

This is an interactive 90-minute workshop designed to identify and model inclusive practices. Julianne will draw from Hankivsky’s 2014 primer on intersectionality, as well as Rosemarie Garland-Thomson’s critical concept of misfitting (2011), to explore how women with disabilities are regularly marginalized and silenced by research. Attendees are encouraged to bring developing research ideas to refer to during a practical exercise aimed at illustrating methods and strategies for doing inclusive research that shares power with, and gives voice to, diverse women with disabilities.

Please bring your lunch. Coffee and light refreshments provided.

RSVP as space is limited
