Faculty and staff share their experiences with Leave for Change (L4C), a program that supports employees participating in a short-term (three- or four-week) volunteer assignment in a developing country.
The panel features:
• Linda Watt, director, HR Learning & Development, will share how she supported AIDS prevention and proper nutrition for children in Malawi.
• Looknauth Ramsahoi, supervisor, Laboratory Services, will talk about how he facilitated building milk production capacity in Nepal.
• Trish Dean, administrative assistant, Office of Investment Management, will share how she used therapeutic touch to help the chronically ill in Malawi.
• Stephanie Craig, communications manager, OAC, will talk about how she created a branding and marketing strategy in Botswana.
• Denise Mohan, professor, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, will discuss how she promoted and advised on youth volunteerism in Guatemala.
Leave for Change is a program of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), two leading international development organizations. As a partner in this program, U of G will support up to seven employees to go on Leave for Change this year. Applications will be accepted until March 7.
