The Building Canada Lecture Series presents a lecture by Prof. Catharine Wilson, Department of History. She began researching rural history, particularly in Ontario, and broadened the scope of her research to include immigration and settlement, and now focuses on family strategies for maintaining a life on the land in the 19th and 20th centuries.
She seeks to understand the creation, maintenance and definition of neighbourhood, its practical workings and imagined states to deepen our understanding of and challenge the much romanticized “pioneer days.”
Location: Guelph Civic Museum, 52 Norfolk St., Guelph
