Mohammed Baobaid, executive director of the Muslim Resource Centre for Social Support and Integration, and Prof. Lynda Ashbourne, Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition (Couple and Family Therapy), present a free public lecture on “Enhancing Family Safety With Newcomer Families: Lessons Learned From Working With the Muslim Community.”
How can we best support the complex needs of immigrant families and enhance family safety? Join Baobaid and Ashbourne as they present a coordinated community response of formal and informal supports to address risk factors for family violence with refugee families who are migrating from conflict zones and have complex trauma histories. Oriented to the unique aspects of collectivist cultural communities, the lecture will describe their model of service and current implementation with the Muslim community in London, Ont.
