To celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial and Guelph’s 190th anniversary, Guelph Museums launches a unique lecture series to reflect on our collective history and the theme of nation building.

Building Canada Lectures, presented in partnership with the University of Guelph, is set for 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Guelph Civic Museum.

On August 9, Professor Jeff Thomason presents Horse Power: Building Canada on the backs of horses.

Professor Thomason has taught at the Ontario Veterinary College since 1992. He literally knows horses inside and out since he teaches their anatomy to first-year veterinary students and researches on the biomechanics of their elegant yet powerful locomotion which is the attributes that made them the perfect engines for driving Canada’s rise as a nation.
