Starting in late May and until the end of August, several pre-planned construction projects on the University of Guelph campus will be underway. While construction is ongoing, fencing will be placed near sites for the safety of the U of G community and to ensure construction vehicles are able to access sites.

Below are the areas that will be impacted by construction and fencing.

H.L. Hutt Building

The Hutt Building will be undergoing exterior repairs, including repairs to masonry, windows, gutters and downspouts, and entrance steps at the west entry. The building will be surrounded by fencing to ensure safe access around the construction area for all pedestrians and vehicles. All entrances will typically remain open except the south basement entrance, which will be used for emergency access only. Additional intermittent entrance closures and traffic rerouting may be required.

Crop Science Building

The north promenade of the Crop Science Building will undergo significant restoration work. The north entrances will be closed while the east and west entrances will remain open. During construction, fencing will be in place to ensure safe access around the construction area for pedestrians. Vehicle access to Reynolds Walk will be restricted to construction and emergency vehicles only.

McLaughlin Library

The south, east and northwest facades of the Library are undergoing concrete and sealant repairs. All entrances will remain open at all times during construction unless otherwise directed. Fencing will be in place to ensure an adequate work area and safe distance from the public.

We appreciate our community’s patience as we complete important repair and restoration work in time for the fall.
