The University of Guelph and CUPE 3913 – the union representing teaching assistants, graduate service assistants and sessional lecturers – continue to work toward reaching a new collective agreement.
After meeting 13 times, the union is requesting the appointment of a conciliation officer from the Ministry of Labour to assist the parties.
The University is committed to reaching an agreement that is fair and responsible. We remain confident that an agreement can be reached through conciliation.
Conciliation is a common step in the collective-bargaining process and brings an external, third party perspective to the discussion to assist in reaching an agreement. More information on conciliation is available from the Ministry of Labour.
The University deeply values its teaching assistants, graduate service assistants and sessional lecturers and their work. We look forward to continued discussions.
