Dr. Nita Chhinzer, professor of human resources in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, has been shortlisted as a Woman of Distinction awardee for her work in leadership and organizational management.
The Woman of Distinction Award is part of the 2023 Canadian HR Awards, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, in partnership with HRD Canada and Canadian HR Reporter.
Chhinzer is among 12 Canadian human resources experts nominated for the award honouring women in the HR profession whose “astounding personal and professional achievements” have earned them a place among the industry’s best.
“It is an honour to be recognized in this list of women who are advancing the HR field in such meaningful ways,” said Chhinzer, who was nominated by one of her PhD students, Akierah Binns.
Chhinzer is a professor in the Department of Management, where she studies strategic HR management, focusing on downsizing practices, procedures and ethics.
In 2019, she received the Emerald Literati Award and in 2016 she was recognized as one of the Top 25 HR Professionals in Canada. Before joining the faculty at U of G, Chhinzer worked in management roles at HP and Nortel.
According to HRD Canada, this year marked an all-time high volume and calibre of nominations.
The 12 shortlisted nominees will be judged by a panel of HR experts. The winner will be announced at the 2023 Excellence Awards ceremony in September.
