Dr. Jennifer Silver, a fisheries specialist in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, discussed the future of B.C.’s commercial salmon fisheries with the National Observer.

Policy that improves profits from fishing and also ensures benefits for harvesters and communities are not mutually exclusive, she said. 

A professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics, Silver specializes in ocean governance and fisheries management. Previously, she was called upon to provide policy advice to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans.
