Each year, the University of Guelph runs a campaign to support our local United Way. The funds we raise make an immeasurable difference in our community – not in the abstract, but in the everyday lives of so many people.
“I’m proud of the role that U of G has played in supporting our local community through the United Way,” says Elaine Fenner, staff co-chair of the University’s United Way campaign. In 2021, U of G raised more than $518,000 to support the United Way. “The University plays a critical role in the local economy, and our giving is a cornerstone of the annual campaign.”

Faculty and Staff incentives
All faculty and staff who complete their online pledge card will be entered into the campaign’s grand prize draw, where one winner will be selected for each of the following prizes:
- $500 RRSP from TD Canada Trust
- One-night stay for two in a lakeview guest room at the Westin Harbour Castle hotel, Toronto
- Registration/tuition fee for one course in Continuing Education at U of G
- University of Guelph one-year parking pass (May 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024)
- Two weekend passes for Riverfest Elora (August 2023)
Student incentives
A special prize draw is available for students who donate to the campaign. Complete your pledge card for the chance to win a one-semester parking pass!
All students who donate any amount will receive one entry for the draw. Those who donate $20 or more five will receive five entries.
Lotsa Local Love ice cream
Another way to support the campaign (and your sweet tooth!) is through purchasing a pint of Lotsa Local Love ice cream. Made on campus, this special signature flavour blends vanilla, spice and honey with cookie chunks from the Creelman Bake Shop.
“We must use the same energy and sense of urgency we had when the pandemic began to now address the root causes of issues that are so heavily impacting our community,” says Mike von Massow, faculty co-chair for the campaign. “We need people who care about our community and who are ready to change lives. When we work together, anything is possible.”
