Dr. Julie Simmons

Dr. Julie M. Simmons, a political science professor in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, has made several media appearances in recent days. 

In an interview with the National Observer, Simmons discussed the new federal Conservative Party leader, Pierre Poilievre, and his choices for his inaugural leadership team. 

Simmons spoke to GuelphToday about the role that social media gaffes might play in Ontario’s municipal elections and about the controversy around a Guelph mayoral candidate’s latest Twitter activity.  

She also recently appeared on several Ontario CBC Radio stations, including CBC Sudbury, to discuss the NDP leadership race in the province. 

A professor in the Department of Political Science, Simmons researches Canadian politics, public policy and administration, focusing on democracy and accountability in federal-provincial relations.
