Prof. Bruce McAdams, a professor in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, discussed with CBC News why more restaurants are offering health and dental benefits to employees .

“This existential crisis now of a shortage in labour is forcing employers to be more competitive,” and that includes offering higher pay, education subsidies and, increasingly, health and dental benefits, he said.

McAdams has written on and studies sustainable employment models and environmental sustainability issues within the food service industry in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management.
