Ontario Agricultural College food economist Dr. Mike von Massow discussed India’s ban on rice exports with BNN Bloomberg.  

Von Massow said the Indian government’s decision is a direct response to high food inflation within India. He said while the decision will lower domestic prices, it will make “food inflation everywhere else worse” by adding pressure to prices and supply.

A professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, von Massow researches retail and restaurant food demand, supply chain management, and value chain structure and performance.
