A waiting room is showm with a large The Grove Hub sign out front

A new youth wellness centre called The Grove Hub – University of Guelph has opened on campus, providing youth within Guelph a “one-stop” hub for mental health and social services.

U of G’s partnership with The Grove is the first of its kind in Canada. It will provide programs and services involving mentorship, counselling, workplace wellness, mental health and other facets of well-being.

The new centre, operated by The Grove Wellington Guelph Hub, collaborates with on-campus services including Student Wellness to offer further mental health and wellness resources to students in addition to services already available.

The Grove Hub – University of Guelph will further extend the collaborative work of Student Wellness work in the community, providing pathways to ensure U of G  students and local youth can access the services they require.

“The University of Guelph values its role in providing inclusive and welcoming spaces where everyone can grow, including both U of G students and local youth more broadly,” said U of G president Dr. Charlotte Yates. “The Grove  – University of Guelph is an exemplary collaboration that demonstrates what is possible when we come together and work creatively in support of a goal as fundamental as youth wellness.”

New pathways for youth to access services they need

Located at 50 College Ave. W., The Grove – University of Guelph is an innovative and evidence-based “one-stop” service hub. The “one door” model provides youth with well-being services on the same day they visit, without asking them to navigate multiple agencies.

The Grove Hubs (formerly the Integrated Youth Services Network) is a collaborative project that offers youth aged 12-26 with the support they need to build positive, bright futures. The Grove – University of Guelph is one of seven locations opening across Wellington County and Guelph.

“We look forward to our future in Guelph as The Grove – U of G works to give our all to the youth in need of support,” said Cyndy Moffat Forsyth, executive director, The Grove Wellington Guelph. “Through shared resources, networks and support services, we can provide a safe space where all youth will feel seen and heard.”

The Grove – University of Guelph is now open and available for registered drop-in appointments by emailing, texting or calling the Hub’s staff at 1-833-434-7683.
