Claire Alexander, special projects manager for the Office of Ceremonies and Events, discussed the growing use of pre-recordings to announce students at graduation ceremonies with CBC Radio

“To not hear your name pronounced correctly, it really takes away from the experience,” said Alexander, who is also the president of the North American Association of Commencement Officers.  

Convocation ceremonies will take place between June 14-17 for U of G’s first in-person convocation ceremonies held since the fall of 2019. During the week of June 23, four ceremonies will be held for the Classes of 2020 and 2021, whose grads missed their chance to cross the stage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
