Political scientist Dr. Steffi Hamann explained the effect of Indonesia’s palm oil export ban on global vegetable oil prices to BNN Bloomberg.  

Hamann discussed how the prices affected food security in countries that depend on vegetable oils for cooking, as well as the environmental concerns surrounding the “flex” crop.  

A professor in the Department of Political Science, Hamann researches socio-economic development and global inequalities, with an emphasis on the political economy of natural resource extraction.
