Workplace mental health researcher Dr. Basem Gohar spoke to Global News about how Ontario will implement the right to disconnect. 

Gohar said that while the policy “at face value, sounds like a really good idea,” the policy might not be applicable to all professions and that some employees may feel a sense of guilt when they choose to disconnect.  

A clinical psychologist and professor in the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, Gohar researches occupational health, workplace mental health, risk assessments, and absenteeism and presenteeism across different sectors. 

Gohar is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology at the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences.
