Dr. Evan Fraser, the director of the Arrell Food Institute, appeared on an expert panel to discuss the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine war on the global food supply with TVO’s The Agenda.
Fraser agreed with comments made by others on the panel that the war was one of many “layers of catastrophe” contributing to current food supply issues. He suggested providing social safety nets and shortening supply chains to build resiliency into the food supply system would help to avoid similar future scenarios.
Along with being a professor in the Department of Geography, Environment & Geomatics, Fraser is a Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security who studies food security, food prices, rural agricultural policy and how each is affected by climate change.
