Dr. Evan Fraser, the director of the Arrell Food Institute, explained how political instability and inequality are often connected to rising food prices for an article in The Globe and Mail investigating how the world can prevent widespread famine as Russia continues its war on Ukraine.

Fraser spoke about the psychological connections to food and its prices, before addressing how Canada should improve its own food systems by looking at long-term solutions to food supply crises.

A professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics, Fraser is the Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security and studies food security, food prices and rural agricultural policy, and how each is affected by climate change.
