Ecologist Dr. Madhur Anand’s latest poetry collection Parasitic Oscillations was listed in both CBC Books’ and The Globe and Mail’s spring previews of must-read books for the season.  

In CBC Books’ list, Anand’s collection is the top pick in Canadian poetry, and “examines a variety of philosophical and ethical dilemmas to inform and question.” The Globe and Mail included the collection, in which “art, science and grief commingle,” in its recommended list of poetry.  

Anand is the director of the Guelph Institute for Environmental Research and a professor in the School of Environmental Sciences. Her first poetry collection is called A New Index for Predicting Catastrophes and her memoir, This Red Line Goes Straight to Your Heart: A Memoir of Halves, won the 2020 Governor General’s Literary Award for non-fiction.
