Dr. Alfons Weersink

Agricultural economist Dr. Alfons Weersink’s comments on rising wheat prices as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict appeared in several publications, including The Hamilton Spectator and The Brantford Expositor.

Weersink explained climbing wheat prices could cause food prices to further rise, which could threaten food security. He said the only way to mitigate the impact “is to stop the conflict in Ukraine.”

A professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Weersink researches the feasibility of new agricultural technology and policy.
