The University of Guelph community is mourning the death of Kean McKenzie, a first-year bachelor of arts (English) student, whose passing was announced by his family on New Year’s Day.

He was among eight pedestrians in Toronto hit by a vehicle on Dec. 26. As of Jan. 4, more than $55,000 had been raised for Kean’s family through a GoFundMe campaign. Condolences can be shared with Kean’s family through an online memorial page.

Details on a memorial service for Kean will be shared as they become available. Campus flags will be lowered to half-mast on Jan. 10 in Kean’s honour.
