The University of Guelph’s new Black Canadian studies program was featured in a CityNews Toronto article.

In the article, Indira Naidoo-Harris, U of G associate vice-president (diversity and human rights), said the program involves the histories, experiences, cultural identities, communities and concerns of Black people in Canada.

Also featured in the story is Guelph Black Student Association president Angel Culmer, who said, “It’s hard to see your face and to hear your history in a predominantly white university. We were just looking for more of us — more representation, more background, more history — and they definitely delivered.”

Dr. Jade Ferguson led development of the program, to begin in fall 2022.
