Dr. Madhur Anand, a professor in the School of Environmental Sciences, spoke to CBC News online about a new report from a Berlin-based think tank that shows Canada is one of the worst carbon emitters among the world’s wealthy countries.
The report states that Canada will need to cut its per-capita carbon emissions by 82 per cent in the next decade and by 95 per cent by 2050.
Anand, the director of U of G’s Guelph Institute for Environmental Research, said such cuts are possible.
“We can make progress really quickly,” she said.
Anand holds the Canada Research Chair in Global Ecological Change and the University Research Chair in Sustainability Sciences.
