The University of Guelph is the top comprehensive university in Canada for overall student satisfaction, according to the 2020 Maclean’s rankings.
U of G ranked No. 1 in six of the 10 student satisfaction categories: course instructors, student life staff, administrative staff, academic advising staff, extracurricular activities and residence living.
“Our goal is to provide students with a supportive and engaging learning and living environment, and this commitment continues to distinguish U of G,” said Carrie Chassels, vice-provost (student affairs). “The Maclean’s ranking reflects the dedication of our staff and our instructors to put the students first, and it is very satisfying to have them recognized for their efforts.”
The University also placed first among comprehensive universities for total research dollars and was ranked third in both reputation and library acquisitions.
In addition, U of G was ranked in the top 20 among all Canadian universities in six subject areas: biology, environmental science, psychology, business, engineering and mathematics.
Maclean’s defines comprehensive universities as those with a significant amount of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its other two categories are medical/doctoral and primarily undergraduate.
