Prof. Lori Ann Vallis

Prof. Lori Ann Vallis with the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences spoke with GlobalNews.ca about the importance of good posture.

Vallis said good posture can make a person’s skeleton more stable which will translates to fewer falls. She added that better posture would lead to fewer workplace and stress injuries and that one of the best ways to improve posture is to add “some simple stretching into your daily routine.”

Vallis researches locomotion with the aim of helping avoid falls, particularly in the elderly — an area of research that has become increasingly important as baby boomers age.
