Prof. Carmen Jacqueline Ho from U of G’s Department of Political Science wrote a commentary for World Hunger Day for the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage about why so many people still suffer from malnutrition.
Ho writes that politics often conflict with evidence-based research on global hunger solutions, because the nutrition policies many researchers say are needed tend not to score points politically.
Ho teaches in the Guelph Institute of Development Studies, which focuses on development in Canada and around the globe.
She studies state provision of social welfare, especially health policies for women and children. She also examines the influence of international factors on social policies in Southeast Asia.
