Prof. Kate Parizeau, of the Department of Geography appeared in a CBC News Online Earth Day article about the ethics and quandaries of disposing of electronic waste.

Parizeau explained that tracking how cellphones are disposed of once they are sent for recycling is difficult because of the long manufacturing chains in the electronics industry.

Parizeau studies the social context of waste management, seeing urban waste practices as reflections of social organization systems.

An associate professor of Geography, Parizeau teaches courses on social geography, urban issues, and international development.
