U of G dairy barn

From pancake flipping to square dancing, a tug of war and a logging competition, there’s sure to be something for everyone at this year’s University of Guelph College Royal Open House.

Every spring, U of G hosts the largest university open house event in North America, with the doors open to the public for a free, campus-wide event that attracts thousands of visitors.

The College Royal Open House takes place March 16-17, from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.

The event involving students, faculty and staff will showcase the many ways that U of G bridges farm and city life, and has become a world-class innovator in food and agricultural research, as well as science, engineering and the arts.

Ever wondered what kind of research goes on at the University? There will be plenty of tours to answer your questions.

Want to see the finest cattle, pigs, dogs and cats in the land? The annual livestock show and cat and dog shows should please you.

Want to keep the kids busy? Head to Old Mac’s New Farm for interactive displays about farming and farm animals, or take the kids down the Junior Tractor Rodeo.

Prefer quieter activities like flower arranging and juried visual art shows? There are plenty of more laid-back events as well.
