It’s possibly the most iconic building on Guelph campus, and it’s scheduled for a refresh to keep it looking good. Johnston Hall’s exterior mortar, stone and masonry will be repaired through a rehabilitation project expected to take place over the next two summers.

In summer 2019, the west, south and north faces of the building will be repaired. Next summer, work will happen on the interior courtyard faces of the building.

To prepare for the restoration work, the ivy on the building will be temporarily cut back.

Over the winter months, the grounds department will cut the ivy to one foot above ground level and remove it from the building. The ivy will be kept low until the restoration work is done. Then, it will be allowed to grow back.

The grounds department is confident the ivy will quickly return to its current glory.
