Prof. Glen Pyle authored a Sept. 26 article in The Hill Times on how advances in veterinary medicine can improve human health and how research in human health can, in turn, help animal patients.

A professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Ontario Veterinary College, Pyle said medical researchers can work to improve lives of all creatures under a concept called “One Health.”

One Health recognizes that the health of humans, animals and the environment is connected, meaning that information or biotechnology created for human patients may be used in animals, and vice versa, he said.

He studies heart attack, cardiomyopathy and hormone replacement therapy.
