CBC Radio’s Writers and Company will kick off its new broadcast season Sunday, Sept. 9 with a panel discussion featuring U of G Prof. Dionne Brand.
The program is a broadcast of a panel hosted by CBC’s Eleanor Wachtel and recorded at the Toronto Reference Library in May. Other panellists are author and former U of G writer-in-residence Madeliene Thien and author Teju Cole.
A professor in the School of English and Theatre Studies at U of G, Brand is an award-winning author and poet whose writing is known for its beautiful language and for tackling themes of social justice and issues of gender and race. She is also Toronto’s former poet laureate.
Brand curated an the anthology, The Unpublished City, which is nominated for the 2018 Toronto Book Award.
Graduates of the University of Guelph’s creative writing MFA program have been nominated for the 2018 Toronto Book Awards, established in 1974 to honour books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto.
