Prof. Andrew Hathaway is appearing in the media, sharing his expertise on cannabis legalization and policy.
He’ll appear on Monocle 24 Radio at 5 p.m. on June 20 talking about Bill C-45. He was also interviewed by Global News for a story about how business owners will cope with legalization of cannabis.
A professor in U of G’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Hathaway spoke on Global News about a new report by the Conference Board of Canada that suggests that half of Canadian business owners are concerned about what will happen when cannabis is legalized.
He said he wasn’t surprised about the report’s findings about legalization. He says there’s a general sense that people would like more time to work out how they’re going to address cannabis use in various environments. Efforts need to be coordinated at federal, provincial and municipal levels, he said.
Hathaway has studied cannabis use in mainstream and marginalized populations for more than a decade. He studies Canadian drug policy and social policy development.
