A Conversation Canada commentary by PhD student Brian Budd on how Ontario premier-designate Doug Ford will lead the province has grabbed the attention of several national media outlets.

In the Department of Political Science, Budd studies Indigenous politics, specifically the role of the news media in the political project of reconciliation under way in Canada. Recently he has also written on populism in Canada, which has led national media to publish his commentaries on the Ontario election and Ford.
