A recent Reader’s Digest story about inherited human traits highlighted new research by U of G’s Elie Chamoun.
A PhD candidate in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences, Chamoun researches the genetics of taste. Reader’s Digest featured his research with the Guelph Family Health Study that found 80 per cent of preschoolers carried at least one of the genotypes that makes them prefer sweet-tasting foods.
Chamoun studies how the genetics of taste affects taste perception and preference, dietary intake and metabolic outcomes.
