Prof. Gary Ellis was interviewed in a Feb. 20 Toronto Star story about how the Toronto Police Board is considering issuing more tasers to front-line officers.

Ellis, head of the University of Guelph-Humber’s justice studies program and a former Toronto police superintendent, spoke about how tasers are less lethal than firearms and more effective than batons. He said use of tasers requires strong regulations, reporting, supervision and transparency.
