Prof. Wayne Caldwell appeared on TVO’s The Agenda With Steve Paikin Feb. 12 about how Ontario can attract newcomers to settle in rural or northern parts of the province where there are aging populations and gaps in the labour force.
A professor in U of G’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, Caldwell spoke about how rural communities need to better promote opportunities for employment and lifestyle to attract newcomers who might otherwise wish to settle in urban areas.
Caldwell researches healthy community development, agricultural planning and immigration in rural communities.
