Prof. Mike von Massow was interviewed in a Feb. 8 Maclean’s magazine article about grocery delivery apps and the future of grocery shopping in Canada.

A professor in U of G’s Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, von Massow said he doesn’t believe that Canadian consumers have a problem with how they buy food, and doesn’t believe that delivery apps will become the norm. He said grocery retailers might feel the impact of online shopping on their bottom line, because grocery stores rely on consumers picking up extra, non-essential items as they browse the aisles.

Von Massow’s research includes structure and performance of food value chains, economics of food demand and pricing strategy.
