Johnston HallThe University of Guelph’s Board of Governors has received a special action request from Fossil Free Guelph. The request asks the University to divest from fossil fuel company investments within the University’s endowment fund portfolio.

In accordance with the University’s special action policy, an ad hoc committee to review the request has been struck, and members of the University community are invited to comment on the divestment request. Comments may be submitted by email to CSAR@uoguelph.ca by Oct. 27.

Section D of the special action policy (“Responding to Concerns”) outlines the criteria the committee will use to evaluate the request. Community comments responding to the criteria outlined in Section D or relating to the University’s Strategic Framework will be particularly useful to the committee in its evaluation.
