History professor Catharine Wilson was featured on CBC Radio Sept. 23. The segment focused on her research on farm diaries and rural life in Ontario.
Wilson’s Rural Diary Archive project tells the stories of Canadian farmers and farming communities in the 19th and 20th centuries. She began transcribing the centuries-old diaries, available online, to piece together the history of Ontario’s rural farming communities.
Recently, the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) recognized Wilson for her research on rural Canadian history. She was one of 89 new Fellows selected from nearly 500 candidates this year. Appointment to the RSC is considered the country’s top academic honour.
