U of G Profs. Merritt Turetsky and Evan Fraser will be featured in an encore presentation of The World Without Canada airing on the History channel Aug. 27.
Turetsky and Fraser were among notable Canadian experts interviewed for the three-part documentary produced to mark Canada 150.
Narrated by actor Dan Aykroyd, the documentary looks at Canada’s natural resources, technological and medical breakthroughs, and humanitarian efforts. It includes computer-generated imagery illustrating the global ripple effect that would occur if Canada’s contributions failed to exist.
In the series, Turetsky, an ecologist in the Department of Integrative Biology, discusses Canada’s natural resources, especially the role of the boreal forest. Fraser, a geography professor and director of the Arrell Food Institute, discusses food-related issues.
The series originally aired earlier this summer.
